This elegant ornament (oyu) was laser engraved in Kazakhstan and hand cut out and soldered by me. The engraving is deep and well defined. The ornament comes from a zoomorphic group of Kazakh ornaments and means a goose's neck. Goose has a sacred meaning in Kazakh culture. It used to be a totem animal and there is a theory that the ethnonym Qazaq was formed from Qaz aq which means White Goose. Also, my grandfather Magawiya Khamzin wrote a kyui (play for dombra) named Wild goose - Qonyr Qaz.
