Frequently Asked Questions

Aliza Souleyeva working at a jeweler's workbench, holding a small object with a bow drill, surrounded by jewelry-making tools and supplies.
  • My name is Aliza and I am an artist, silversmith and lapidary behind Soul Eye Jewellery. Learn more about me here.

  • I have a small production, and I try to make the least environmental impact by having a sustainable practice. What that means is that I buy most of the materials from local sources and when I have to order from abroad, I try to order in bulk to decrease shipping numbers. I recycle silver by melting any silver scraps and turning them into a workable sheet of silver. I started to upcycle vintage china during pandemic years when lapidary equipment at a local lapidary club was not available and I could not cut any gemstones. Silversmithing involves the use of gas and some acid chemicals which I dispose of in a safe manner. I use gas canisters that I take to a local recycling depot when they are used up and empty.

Here is the list of Canadian shops that have been a part of my business for the past 8 years:

    • The Rockhound Shop, 777 Cloverdale Ave. Victoria, BC Source of sterling silver and some silversmithing tools.

    • The @blackmagicsilversmithshoppe on Instagram and Facebook, a wonderful source of impression dyes, stamps and texture plates

    • Lacy West Supplies, www.lacywest.com - everything a silversmith needs from tools and equipment to materials.

    • www.alittleleafy.com - my source of business and custom stickers.

  • I ship to most countries worldwide. The exception is beaded and copper items that can't be shipped to the USA due to tariffs. Currently, I use ChitChats to ship to the USA and worldwide. I use Canada Post for domestic shipping. Buyers are responsible for any customs and import taxes that may apply. I'm not responsible for delays due to customs.

  • For customers in the EU and UK, I offer a 14-day exchange from the date of delivery.  Please note that the buyer is responsible for return shipping costs and any loss in value if an item isn't returned in original condition.

    • Product must be returned for a refund of 40% within 14 days from delivery date.

    • No returns on custom orders.

I don't offer refunds to other countries.

  • I can reserve an item for up to 30 days with a security deposit of 100. The deposit is non-refundable.

By reserving an item, I remove it from the shop to prevent any sale of the item until the date of purchase. At a discussed date, I release an item with an adjusted price (minus deposit amount).

  • I offer pricing based on today's market value of silver, complexity of a project, and timing it takes to complete a project. For custom orders, I provide a transparent quote with no hidden costs.

  • I launched my first Solidarity with Ukraine collection in February 2022. Since then I have been contributing most proceeds from my Ukraine collection to the needs of Ukrainian defenders. This collection reflects Ukrainian folk art aesthetics such as floral and nature's motifs. I used vintage Chippendale china in a blue and yellow color palette, yellow and blue gemstones, such as chalcedony, sunstone, kyanite, lapis lazuli and blue topaz. I firmly believe that Ukraine deserves independence from Russia and the occupation of Ukraine is unjust and barbaric.
